From first call to a shoreline that holds.
Step 1: Tell us what you’re seeing
Use the quote form or call (443) 364-3676. Useful details: the address, roughly how many feet of frontage, and the symptoms. A leaning wall, a sinkhole behind it, a bank washing out, an edge creeping toward the house. Photos help. We usually pull aerial imagery of your shoreline the same day.
Step 2: Low-tide inspection
We walk the shoreline at low tide, when the part of the structure that actually fails is visible. The top two feet of a bulkhead tell you very little; the sheathing at the mud line and the toe of the wall tell you almost everything. For older structures we probe below the waterline where warranted.
Step 3: A written quote with the math shown
The quote comes back with per-linear-foot pricing itemized against the same ranges we publish on our cost guide: structure, demolition, engineering, permits, access. Where repair and replacement are both real options, both get priced. Where a living shoreline would pass permitting easier and cost less, it is in the quote too. You can hold any competing bid against ours line by line, which is the point.
Step 4: Permits, filed by us
Every Calvert shoreline job involves county building and grading permits, the Critical Area Worksheet, and MDE tidal wetlands authorization, with federal coordination on some projects. We prepare and file the whole package and track it to approval. Routine replacements usually clear in two to four months; the permits page explains every step.
Step 5: Construction by licensed marine contractors
Maryland requires a Marine Contractors License for this work, plus MHIC licensing on residential projects. Construction runs one to three weeks for a typical residential frontage once permits clear, longer for barge-access jobs and cliff-toe revetment. We manage the schedule and the site.
Step 6: Inspection and closeout
The job ends with passed inspections and closed permits alongside the finished wall. That paper trail is worth real money the day you sell a waterfront house, and we hand it over complete.
What you always get
- A free low-tide inspection before any number is quoted.
- Per-foot pricing in writing, itemized, comparable against any bid.
- Every permit handled, county through state.
- An honest recommendation, including when repair beats replacement or soft beats hard.
